BACKGROUND

PERSONAL
PHILOSOPHY

Hi! I'm Averee, a dedicated and knowledgeable former Division 1 athlete with a strong academic background in exercise science and kinesiology. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in Physiology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and spent a year abroad at Bournemouth University in the UK. My higher education journey began at Longwood University, where I studied Kinesiology and was a full-time Division 1 student-athlete.

My coaching career spans various roles and teams. Since June 2021, I have been coaching for the Carolina Coast Lacrosse travel team. I successfully coached the 2028 high school graduating team and currently serve as the Speed & Agility coach for the program. My expertise also extends to Wrightsville Beach Lacrosse, where I have been coaching recreational players since February 2023, introducing beginners to the sport and helping them develop their skills. I l also received 2024 MEC Conference Coach of The Year.

At New Hanover High School, I lead the Varsity and JV Girls Lacrosse teams, focusing on developing student-athletes both on and off the field. I teach my players important life skills such as time management, priority setting, and resilience, preparing them for future success.

Throughout the year, I dedicate my time to coaching youth girls lacrosse across various teams and organizations, including Team Pride Academy, Ladyhawks of Wilmington, CFLA-Cape Fear Lacrosse Association, Bournemouth Club in England, Saint Marks Catholic School, and the 2023 North Carolina Regional Team. My coaching emphasizes the rules, fundamentals, and techniques of lacrosse, as well as mentorship, character development, injury prevention, and strength training.

My experience also includes a two-year tenure as a personal trainer at Legends Athletic Training Gym, where I trained individuals and groups both at the gym and in their homes. I have worked as a habilitation counselor and community navigator at Alberta Professional Services, providing care and teaching social skills to individuals with special needs.

My commitment to safety and first aid is evident from my time as a lifeguard with Kure Beach Ocean Rescue, where I was certified in CPR/AED and served as a first responder.

My diverse background and extensive experience in coaching, training, and education make me a well-rounded and effective lacrosse coach and mentor. I am dedicated to helping athletes improve their performance and passionate about teaching essential life skills, reflecting my commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of my students and players.
